Mervyn Espie

As a child Mervyn was involved in a serious and potentially life-changing car accident during which he broke his femur and back, he was initially told he would never walk again. Remarkably after 1.5 years lying on his back in hospital he learnt to walk again. However, he was told that later in life he would have difficulties walking and with mobility and from there he decided that this was not my destiny and started to begin slowly running and exercising regularly to slow down or halt the process.

From his mid-twenties to present his life has revolved around fitness and health. After boxing training for several years, he was introduced to Kettlebell Training for strength, endurance and functional training which increased his fitness 100%. From there he has maintained a high level of fitness for 30 plus years and still compete in fitness and endurance challenges to push his boundaries, from swimming across the channel in 2005, a 100 mile run in 24 hours (completed in 18 hours) obstacle courses, sprints and other endurance training challenges .
He founded and ran an established Gym in London for 10 years and moved to Ballymoney in 2019 where he decided that a there was a market for a fitness focused Boxing gym in N. Ireland for all abilities to learn the skill of boxing alongside building incredible fitness and boxing conditioning in a fun way with a great atmosphere.
He was closely associated with and taught aspects of the Sports Massage Level 4 course at the renowned school Accredited Massage Courses.
Working as a Personal Training Mervyn continued to develop skills and learnt many new techniques to help his clients. He soon discovered that fitness and Sports Massage go hand in hand. He also understood the limitation was a Personal Training Certificate at level 3 and continued to study and apply his newly required knowledge in his life-changing fitness programmes.
